DA's about ready to be a daddy again! (pics)

Post by pjr »

I've been working like a mad-man lately to get everyone's engines restored/completed for their sleds, so I thought I'd snap a few pics of DA's fully restored, 1978 JD 340 LF engine I've been toiling over, chocked-full of NOS parts. He should be able to hear his new baby cry for the first time by Christmas Eve! :pray: :)

Oh yeah...for those of you that I'm building engines for also, yours' are right behind this one! :usa:

Ho! Ho! Ho! :letitsnow:

DA had a freaking cow when he saw the thread topic!!!!!!!!!!! Actually DA and BA are going to be great-grandpa and grandpa respectively in May.

The water pump cover in the picture is not the actual cover. I'm saving that picture for now.

Hint: The "Busco Bullet" is back.

Wow PJ you really are a perfectionist. I wonder what my 83 Sportfire motor will look like. Keep up the great work.

If the corrosion is bad enough to where you need to use a blaster to get the scale off, I use a blasting cabinet here with walnut shells in it set to 80 psi gun tip working pressure, so as not to harm the soft aluminum parts. Then, run the parts through a wash of some sort to wash away all the walnut dust left behind from blasting. Works pretty slick and it makes short work of 30 year old baked-on, caked-on grime! :beers;

A little machine work done to improve the asthetics a bit for a more "high tech" look, since Mr. Bullet likes that kind of stuff. :sled:

Does anyone have a coolant reservior gasket for the '76-'78 LF engine they can spare? The expensive "Pro" Windrosa engine gasket set I bought for DA'a engine doesn't even have a new one included in it to my surprise, so I can't button the cylinder head down without it and I don't want to have to resort to just "gluing" it on with silicone only. That's not very reliable and so much for that gasket set being "complete" as they advertise.... :wall:

I'll pay overnight shipping or whatever, I just need it. Thanks! :usa:
