Reed Valves

Post by tiny73 »

A while back, there was talk that Boyesen reed valves from a Suzuki RM80 would work on a CCW engine. I was wondering what year they were using. I am looking for new reeds for my 1977 440 Liquifire, several of mine are rust pited and need to be replaced. I do not want to use the rusty ones and trash the fresh rebuild I am finishing. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Robert :needsnow:

DKTrader had a pile of these a year or two ago.

You may want to give them a call.
You will need the JD part number or they will just tell you no.

I bought a few sets of reeds last winter for $3 a set, they are still out there and fairly cheap. I would guess that either rainville or Rich could supply you a set if Dk no longer has any.

Boyesen Reeds in Kioritz

Post by Liquify »

Has anyone actually tried installing Boyesen Reeds from a Suzuki RM80 in their Kioritz? Any problems encountered? Information I recently received from Boyesen is that their part #610 should work on the stock Kioritz cage but their reed stop plate is also needed because of the dual overlapping reed design. I wanted to check with folks before I went any further. Thanks

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but do Boyesen sell their stop plates separately? I can only find the #610 reeds themselves and it doesn't seem like they include the plate with them.
*edit* Unless the stop plates are the metal pieces covering the screw holes on the reed */edit*
