Thanks for the comments. Would someone have a NOS or used muffler off of a newer JDX/00 that they would be willing to sell so I can try it on my 72 500? I am more concerned about my kids hearing that the originality.

I just purchased a 72 500 to ride and pull my kids with. A friend into Polaris vintage sleds helped me get it running, but is is extremely loud. Can anyone offer advice on if this sled is supposed to be so loud? I think I need a new muffler, but don't know much about vintage sleds. I would appreciat...

One other comment - I have been told that it should be on the right side of the tunnel, directly below the seat. There is no tag at this location, or any rivet holes.
