Re: Comet 100c Clutch Parts? Looking for bushings
Haha, yes. It looked and sound exactly like the one in that link. I ended up getting another movable sheeve assembly from a friend that was a spare. It's nowhere near new but works 100x better than what I had. Thanks for the offer on the NOS parts, I'll try to get some apart numbers gathered up and ...

Comet 100c Clutch Parts? Looking for bushings
The primary clutch on my JD400 is WORN OUT! Both the cover and the movable sheeve have tons of slop and it's binding terribly. It revs out like crazy and only does maybe 30mph. The belt only ride up halfway on the primary. I took it apart and found that both the cover bushing and movable sheeve bush...

WTB: Carb access cover for JD300/400, etc
I lost the cover for mine last year while trailering to summer storage. I am just looking for that removable plastic piece, as long as it fits, I'll be interested. Doesn't matter which specific sled its from.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Secondary Clutch Difference Between '73 and '74?(Belt qu
My guess is that something was wrong with the original one and someone happened to find one that was close enough and worked. For all I know, it could actually be a comet... I didn't find very much identifying info in my searches as to which one I have. The service manual talks about different holes...

Re: Secondary Clutch Difference Between '73 and '74?(Belt qu
I did find that information a I was searching across a few sites the other night. Thanks though. The 3001 is a little over an inch shorter and it's hard to say if it will fit right, I don't know the measurement of the used belt that came off of it. As of now, I'm thinking I am going to need the 3001...

Re: Questions about voltage regulator, elec start, and headl
I actually did just get it working... somehow. I bought a new battery last spring and never installed it until last week. I think the battery may have had something to do with it, which is very weird because I swear I hooked it up for a test right away this year and I was still reading high voltage....

Secondary Clutch Difference Between '73 and '74?(Belt ques.)
I have a 1974 400. Comet primary and I (think) a Salisbury secondary clutch. I am replacing my belt and received a Dayco 3011 from MFG Supply. I put it on and while the width seems right (the belt sits high in the secondary clutch), the length seems to be too long. When I squeeze the belt together w...

Re: Questions about voltage regulator, elec start, and headl
I installed a brand new regulator, even ran a ground wire from the mounting bolt right to the engine ground. Still no change. I gave up for now, I'm only going to ride in the day time!

Re: Questions about voltage regulator, elec start, and headl
I think I have the plug with the jumper on it lying around somewhere, I could try unplugging the elec start one in the sled and just puttinmg the jumper plug on there to bypass all of the elec start stuff. I think you misread about it reading the same on AC and DC. I am talking about the rectifier, ...

Questions about voltage regulator, elec start, and headlight
My 1974 400 is finally running awesome after some engine and carburetor work. My next task is the head light. I blew the first headlight pretty quick, same with the tail light. It has electric start with a battery installed but the battery is completely shot. Checking voltages at the head light, it ...

A big thanks to you Brian and everyone else on this board. I will post a thread in the projects area when I finally get a chance to sit in front of the computer long enough to write everything out. I've got so much labor into this thing.

Re: '74 400 runs for 5 seconds and dies.
OK... i think I'm done with it and have it running for good now. Replaced the condensor yesterday. Due to mounting differences, it rubbed on the timing cam in the flywheel and wore a hole. http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae205/cpolaris503/819443b3.jpg Did that, remounted the plug wires to the coi...

Re: Waconia
I picked up a walbro WDA-32 i needed for $5. Took it apart while riding home in the truck and I couldn't believe it had every single part inside of it. I cleaned it up, put it on the sled and it fired right up for the first time since I've owned it these few months.

Yup, that's how I determined its down there again. I just wonder why I'd have a problem with them right away again.
