Re: Green Liquifire?

Looks to be about the same green as the 78 Cyclone's. The grill location is good for a fan cooled inlet also, maybe they had thoughts of using that basic hood for both models? Most likely only someone in the model planning at Deere at the time would know.

Re: 440 cyclone clutching (ovals)

The lighter the weights, the higher the engagement for a given spring. I'm use to "cats" so lots of helix and spring options for the secondary clutches that you don't have with Deere. Not a clutch man but rule of thumb I believe is primary clutch you set engagement, secondary is shifting. I...

Re: Describing a sled

Bought my 78 Liquifire without seeing it in person. My brother looked at it,sent pictures to me then sent the money down with a a buddy that was snowmobiling at my place at the time. Sled ran but I figured in a rebuild which she really needed when I got it. Rule of thumb is your looking at a 40 year...

Re: ski spreaders

My father put some on his 74 JD 300 back in the day, like after or within the first year of owning it. Worked well for us. I should pull the old girl out of the garage at the cabin and go over her,has a bad condencer and would need to be completely gone over. Has not been run in 7-8 years. Still look...

Re: Sled show.

Was a great show, perfect weather. :beers; Was close to 90 sleds there,1 300JD and a 800JD and my 78 Liquifire. Rode 40 miles round trip there and back with my buddy on his Merc Twister, passed a groomer,he was nothing but smiles and thumbs up at our two vintage sleds on the trail.

Re: CCW reeds

Some where I thought I heard reeds for a RM80 Suzuki. I have a "parts" 440 liquifire engine apart and have thought of buying a set and comparing them if they are cheap.

Re: 78 Cyclone

Having the same issue with my 78 Liquifire. Mostly the MAG side cylinder, rebuilt her last year. Fuel pump pulse line is on the PTO side so I have semi ruled that out. Have had carbs apart, new needle valves and seats, adjusted the needle on the slides, got her running better but not right yet. My next ...

78 Liquifire

Did some more drive line checks and work on the 78 Liquifire. Pulled the track drive axle out,had some play on one of the cogged wheels. This machine has the round shaft with a bolt through the wheels. Found the play to be the metal insert in the wheel to shaft. Made up some shim stock to tighten it...

Re: 1980 Liquifire

Sweet looking sled!! Nothing like finding a nice serviver. I went to school with a girl whose dad had a 78 Liquifire, bought new. Has not seen the light of day in years, always kept in a nice pole barn with his restored cars. I still drop her a reminder every so often that IF he is tired of it...
