Re: Fuel leaking out the side of walbro carb
Some good news, I spent some time swapping plates from my spare parts bin and new gaskets and finally found a combination that stopped the leak. :beers; But now I still have fuel drizzling down the impulse tube at idle. I'm thinking there is still more leaking going on in the pump stack, even though...

Re: Fuel leaking out the side of walbro carb
Thanks for the help so far guys. I'm pretty sure the hole is supposed to be there. Without a picture it's hard to explain, but it leads to a cavity inside that plate which leads me to believe its an overflow vent or possibly an air vent? I have two new gasket kits and I've tried fresh gaskets betwee...

Re: Fuel leaking out the side of walbro carb
You bet, fuel lines are all correct. Yesterday I played with about ten different settings for the metering lever height and saw no improvement on the leak. The longer it runs the more it leaks which tells me it's just flooding and coming out that tiny vent. I don't know enough about the circuitry to...

Fuel leaking out the side of walbro carb
Hi everyone I have a JD300 with some carb issues. I've cleaned it and gone over it with a fine tooth comb several times. After putting it back on the sled it started up fine but after idling for a few minutes began leaking fuel out the side of the carb from the hole shown in the picture. I have the ...

Proper Carb for the '77 300?
Hi folks, I'm so close to getting my 300 ready to ride. It was running ok but wouldn't idle great so I decided to check out the carb. I had just went through this carb less than 2 years ago and it looked pretty good but i still replaced all the gaskets etc. It sat for a couple years and there must h...

Re: Stripped Clutch
Just closing the loop here. Thank's to everyone for the advice. I carefully cut the fixed half most of the way through with a cut off wheel. I finished the cut with a fine-toothed blade on a reciprocating saw to get as close to the crank as possible. Stuck in a pry bar and the clutch popped right of...

Re: Stripped Clutch
I'd be lying to you guys if I said I was comfortable with rebuilding/servicing a clutch. I'm mechanically inclined but this is new territory for me. I've came across an old Salsbury service manual that does show some info but I would feel better finding a complete used clutch and just tossing it on....

Re: Stripped Clutch
Thanks for the ideas guys! Brian I think you are on the right track. Cutting it off is looking like the best idea. I'm new to clutch work but from what I do know this one is already on its last legs. And yes, my bad,the puller threads into the nut not the sheave. Even if I get it off cleanly the int...

Re: Stripped Clutch
No, it's the threads on the outside of the hollow bolt as well as the inside of the stationary sheave (the part a puller would thread into).

Stripped Clutch
Well... I lucked out and found a new exhaust for my JD300 using the forum here. I got it installed but thats where my luck ended. As per the suggestions I decided to replace my crank seals at the same time. Starting with the PTO side I removed the first retaining bolt holding the clutch on. After ta...

Re: 1977 JD300 Exhaust Ideas
Thanks Steven, the photos help a lot, it is indeed the 295 Kohler. I'll see If i can't find a couple used tubes. If not, surely its something I can have made locally - doesn't look that complicated!

Re: 1977 JD300 Exhaust Ideas
Well I got around to cutting off what's left of my exhaust this weekend. Was surprised to see that the attachment to the cylinder is a threaded connection? Should it be like this from the factory? I have a parts manual but it doesn't clearly show the exhaust tube and cylinder arrangement. Is this a ...

Re: 1977 JD300 Exhaust Ideas
Thanks everyone! I was actually browsing some threads earlier today on how to change those seals. Seems like a no-brainer if I want to keep the thing going. Any good sources in Canada for the parts? Is there a good sticky on doing this procedure? I've got a good harmonic puller for the mag side, but...

1977 JD300 Exhaust Ideas
Hi everyone! As per my intro (http://www.jdsleds.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=17398) I've got this old jd300 that I finally got going again. Unfortunately during my test run my exhaust system snapped clean in half. Now that I've been looking at it I would venture a guess that this is someo...
