also can i replace the seals with the engine still in the sled?

im finally working on this sled again and i got the stator out and the resistance on the high speed winding-the blue wire- is 80 Ohm cold I could get up to 89 with a hair dryer Is it bad? also when i test the low speed-the yellow wire- it says its a open loop or the numbers just jump around and then...

It runs pretty good sometimes I can zip a round with lots of power one second and the next im going pretty fast and it just dies down to idle and then it doesn't have enough power to engage the clutch. after it cools downs it has power again so i think its a spark thing but idk may the fuel pump wha...

i order my brake pads thank now i need a new key switch i now know its a 1976 but i olny see 77 and 78 key switches listed most places so will there work they look like they will here is a pic of the old one

Where do i get brake pads for this sled? ebay? there isnt many there. whats the best place?

I see that everyone one the this site seems to replace those seals alot why is it so important?

I got it today! and i got it running! but it seems to have a loss of power sometimes sometimes it goes to 7000 and has tons of power! but the next it seems bogged down and will not go over 4000 so is it spark or fuel ? im cleaning the carbs now any help will be appreciated thanks.
