Re: Starter Interchangability
Yes, the JS440 starter motor will work. I have installed them on Trailfires, Sportfires and Liquifires. The mounting holes are tapped, you will need to drill them out. The clearance between the mounting holes and the body of the starter is very small. I use socket head capscrews to make access easie...

Re: Ron Leonard - Engineering Manager Horicon Works Passed Away
Sorry for your loss Dan. I had the chance to meet Ron a few years back when he returned to Waterloo and gave a presentation about his involvement in the snowmobile program. It occurred to me too late that I should have taken my copy of his book along and had him sign it.

Re: Comet 100/102 Clutch Weights
I'll take an AM55112 and an AM53949. Also looking for any AM55112 "B" arms. Picture attached. I sent you a message on here but I don't think it has gone through yet.

Re: Clutching for black hills
A few years ago I took my Liquifire to the black hills and changed clutching and jetting per the fine tune manual. It ran well. In my opinion taking the time to make the adjustments is better than having a poorly running sled ruin an entire trip. A 340 Trailfire is pretty low on power anyway so I wo...

Re: Fire series reproduction track??
I’ve talked with him and he is still in need of a piece of an old track to confirm the new design. Does anyone have an unusable one that they would be willing to spare?

I think this is great news! It’s another option to keep these sleds going without having to do a conversion.

Re: Reproduction Fire Series Tracks - AM54969
Thanks for taking on this important and challenging project. It will help keep a lot of sleds on the snow that would otherwise be parked or parted out if they have a track failure. I don't currently have any sleds that would take this track but you can put me down for one as I may need one in the fu...

Re: Molded 80-84 Liquifire Seat Update 12/18
Hi Joe,
Thanks for taking on this huge task and creating another great product for everyone. My vote would be for the 78 LF as well but I understand that is a smaller market and may not make the most sense from a tooling vs volume perspective.

Re: Jerry Can Storage
I was able to find a 1 gallon can at Wal-Mart that fit very well in the storage compartment. The lid stuck up a half inch or so.

Re: Why no grass dragging of our Deeres?
Terry,
I will be passing through WI in a couple weeks, maybe we could meet up? I had started discussions on how to get sleds into the Tractor and Engine Museum in Waterloo and I think your dad's documents could help tell a comprehensive story of snowmobile engine development in Waterloo.

Re: Why no grass dragging of our Deeres?
Thanks for the great information Terry! I work at the Product Engineering Center in Waterloo and I have heard a few stories about the engine testing and development that went on there. Would you have any old pictures or memorabilia pertaining to that? There are a number of JD anniversaries coming up...
