Here's the secondary shaft. Not sure, but I don't think the splines are supposed to look like that.

Touched up the snowflap. It's not in great shape, but it'll do.

The fuel tank was a bit rough, but I've cleaned it, and flushed the inside. It also has a new check valve, and gas cap & gage that I got from New Breed Parts, and put in new pickup and return lines.

Allan, I can't believe they could twist like that without something breaking! Hard to believe it had the torque to do that, but must have happened over a long period of time

New coils and the CDI is installed. The shield is rough, but I decided not to do much with it, other than it needed a repair where the bolt attaches through the tunnel on the left side. This was completely broke when I found it.

Finally got the clutch off, so I removed the PTO crank seal. I installed the Mag side exactly how the manual says, with a center drilled hole in a block of wood. Worked great and will do the same here, except I need to expand the hole to 1-1/2" diameter.

The rebuilt Comet clutch has been installed, and the engine has been removed. Just keep plugging away.

So what does a guy do about the completely dry-rotted rubber bushings in the original ski shocks? Well, I decided to make my own. Not really make them, but trim some new Jeep bushings to fit the ski shock eye. Takes quite a bit of trimming on the bench grinder, and it makes a hell of a mess. But the end result didn't turn out bad.

The idler wheels were in good shape, but the bearings are shot. These are good candidates for rebuilding. I have the instructions posted here in F.A.Q. so will be following them to get this done. It is interesting because this sled had both styles. Two idlers have the larger center opening, and one smaller opening. I will get started on these very soon.
