Jon,
Several of us have horded rings from the 340/s & Dator pistons. KD was blowing them out cheap a few years ago. I think we could ring several sets of pistons w/o an issue.

79 340 trailfire rings are very close, also wiseco will sell rings but they need you to measure sizes. one of those people that have the std. replacement dator pistons manufactured a couple years ago might look at the part number on the rings (if there was one)
Thanks,
Ted

Well the John Deere parts catalog says it fits the 340/S. May have been mispackaged, or.......misrepresented.
Feel free to check out our website www.buscobullet.com for restorations or parts.

Got them from a guy in canada off e-bay. the 3 motors I got have art's piston in them with two thin rings. the rings he sold me one is too thick and the other is too thin P.S. any one in mid-michigan looking for trailfires went to a yard sale on waker road just north of 21 guy had four of them

i have a local guy who custom makes rings depending on what you got.
the 340/rs and the 340/2/3/5 engines share a same diameter piston, pin size i think is different. the rs pistons however have finger ports where the 340/2/3/5 do not.
However if your completely stuck for a piston for this engine and can work around pin size the rotax fan cooled 340 piston 0.020 over works. also 340 air cooled rotax 0.020
Note some 340 rotax pistons have straight skirts some have angled.
if you really want to be picky althought its not needed unless racing the finger port can be drilled into other pistons. all it does is put a precharge into cylinder from under piston. some think the precharge is advanced porting or longer port opening.. nope its the hole in piston.
thin rings sound like a wiesco piston. if memory serves superstock 340/rs pistons are single l ring titianum pistons. normal pistons are 2 ring both have holes wiesco some did some didnt.
