A real conundrum!
Thanks for all of the suggestions guys! Here is an update. We pulled the motor completely down. The outer seals are indeed new. However, what is the deal with the center seal? We are thinking that this is the issue. How does it work? Is it some kind of Hydro Seal principle? How does one change one, ...

A real conundrum!
Hello again, Thanks for all of the ideas. The motor is now out of the sled, and on the bench being torn down. I think you are on to something with the fuel pump. Also, this has a Mikuni butterfly/floater carb. No matter what one does with the throttle, it runs poorly. The belt has been off the whole...

A real conundrum!
Hello all, A friend of mine is working on a 1978 JD Spitfire with the 340 Kohler F/A motor in it. The sled is acting very strangely. It has many new parts in it such as: CDI Box Coil Seals Carb cleaning and trying a known good carb 150 LBS of compression in each hole. It starts up fine and will idle...

Riding lawn mower troubles!
I have one of these motors that you can have if you are near NY. I could ship it but it would cost a lot of money. I would probably vote for a coil stuck to or to close to the magnet. I am willing to send parts if needed, just pay shipping. Forrest

Ok, you didn't here this from me! You have to change the title a bit. Instead of being: 1974 JDX-6, Runs Great............make it..............1974 JDX-6. Clean Sled. It's that easy! You should also change some slight wording in the ad itself. I love CL. I sold some wheels last night, and a riding m...

To bad I did not know you were coming this way. I could have come down and intruded. That would have been fun. I really need to go down and meet this Rainville character

which one is correct?
Yes, except for the motors in the earlier AC Pumas which I believe were Kawasaki engines. I may be wrong, but that is what I heard.

JDX-6 Mikuni Question
The Bendix has some major issues (hole in float) and I have been wanting ti try a Mik conversion for a while now. I am doing a rebuild in a few weeks as I have most of the parts that I need. Ken, could you possibly post the specs for the 34mm. It is easy enough to get a boot. Thanks, Forrest.

JDX-6 Mikuni Question
I know that I need a throttle cable and a choke cable/hand choke assembly. I already have a Mik fuel pump and my adapter boot thinger-ma-bob. :D If someone has Bendix parts that would be cool as well. I have a Walbro but I was taking it apart to clean it and an unknown spring went on a permanent vac...

JDX-6 Mikuni Question
Ok guys, I have some carb issues on the 74' JDX-6. I had the whole river to myself this weekend and the sled fell flat on it's face after about 5 grand. The BENDIX carb is a total piece. I would like to put a Mik on the sled. I have an adapter for a 32mm. Does anyone have a carb for relatively cheap...

Going for a Deere ride this weekend!!!
We are taking my 1974 JDX-6 up to the ST. Lawrence river for the weekend. My boss, his brother, and myself are all going. It should be a great time. I pulled the JD into the shop tonight and checked everything over and changed the chain case oil. He rode it from my house to his shop (about a mile) w...

If you look real closely at the chain it usually says the size on master link. Hope this helps, Forrest.

Here are some pics of the show. My machine is the 1973 Polaris TX-295. It was won by me on vintagesleds.com. I did not bring the Deere because it was not running. Now it is though.
