Re: 1974 JDX6, moving closer to a resto everyday.
Saturday was a very pleasant surprise. Two friends rode their vintage sleds to my house and they played around with my carb some. Its still burning stupid rich, but I got two hours of riding in and finally have the steering figured out. I'm sure the steering will get better with a full tank of gas. ...

Re: 1974 JDX6, moving closer to a resto everyday.
well, I went for my first ride in a year on Wednesday night. I'm having trouble getting fuel to flow consistant, but it might be my carb tuning. I'm going to putz around with this as much as I can this year, then tear the engine out hopefully for a rebuild.

Re: 1974 JDX6, moving closer to a resto everyday.
Okay, I got the rear spring brackets bolted in, the through tubes that bolt to the tunnel are in, the track is almost adjusted, but I need to get the front spring brackets bolted in, which I hope to do this weekend. It's not easy to get stuff done with a 4 year old and overtime!!

awesome tip.
Right now I'm struggling with how the 4 brackets that bolt to the tunnel and hold the springs go. It feels like I'm so close!!

Re: 1974 JDX6, moving closer to a resto everyday.
Thank you guys very much. I ended up getting the driveshaft back out, put the spacer I forgot back it, and I am starting on the suspension. I bought used tensioner blocks from a guy locally for $10! But now I know where to get them new, I might do that next time. I am just slowly trying to figure ou...

NEED HELP!!
I am finally getting time to mess with the sled again. The service manual I have found online isn't as helpful as I want it to be. Does anyone have pictures of where all the spacers, bearings and flanges go on the driveshaft? When it came out, parts flew everywhere!!!

Re: I cannot get my intake off my carb jdx6
I got this sled in late 2012. I tore it apart last winter and got it running. But after busting the track, I parked it. Sitting all summer has the screws siezed in there and I don't want to apply heat so close to lots of gas. I am very intimate with the carb/fuel pump.

I cannot get my intake off my carb jdx6
I managed to get my 74 jdx6 running last year after I pulled it out of a barn that it sat in sense 1982. I ripped the track off it though last February. Thanks to a member on here, I have two new tracks for it. But my new job has not allowed me to work on it much. I went out to start it this year, a...

Re: 1974 JDX6, moving closer to a resto everyday.
I don't like to tear everything apart until I have all the parts to do the job. That means less losing things for me and I remember better where things are supposed to go. But tonight I went into the sled to replace the track, and found a broken chain tensioner. So I'm going to take some time and ju...

Re: 1974 JDX6
Last night I removed the suspension. Everything looks really good. I hope I have time this friday to media blast everything. But we will see. I still need to take the drive shaft off.
How do the drive cogs look to you guys?

Re: 1974 JDX6
Looks like I'm going to get two tracks!! But I can't get them soon enough for my taste. So much snow, and no snowmobile. I lifted the rear of the sled up with my hydro crane. I started a fire in the garage and I blew a lot of the snow off. I'm letting the rest melt. From what I can see, everything l...
