TB340A Kawasaki out of 80 Spit; splitting the case
I need to split the case on this engine, but am unsure what is used to reseal the halves after new crank seals are installed. Any help is greatly appreciated!![Image](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190201/814334a5245da8c739151cfb9bed6c86.jpg)

Re: Mikuni B34 parts for JD Spitfires
Well, I thought I just had one of these carbs. Cleaning up in my garage, I opened a drawer that had 2 more! I am much better on parts now. Found one to be nicer, and plan on using it instead. Cleaned it up at work on my breaks. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190106/f6f9ad21b42efb4fb75dcea87dfbab...

Re: Worn pistons and rings
Do they have steel sleeves or something? I am only familiar with the Kaw engines. I am assuming the cylinders are not just aluminum, they couldnt stand the wear of the rings.Matt wrote:Kioritz bores are not plated, I believe only the Kawasakis were.

Re: Pair of 79 Spitfires... what to do with them?
What I'm leaning toward at this point is maybe getting one of them running and using the other one for parts.... especially for a second track. Would be cool to see one running again! I think that may be what I do with my 2 '80 Spitfires. One for fun, and one for parts. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn...

Re: Pair of 79 Spitfires... what to do with them?
The Spitfire 340 was my first snowmobile. Its what made me love snowmobiling. I say fix them. I just traded two project sleds for 2 project Spitfires. Turns out out both engines are low compression. My buddy who bought my sled off of another buddy I had sold the sled to when it shucked the track.......

Re: Worn pistons and rings
Correct me if I am wrong, but if you bore them.... ....dont they have to be replated too? Nikasil plated cylinders arent they? The pistons are shot. If the cylinders arent too bad, you may be able to get away with a light honing. Judging by the pistons, that is most likely not the case. Sent from my...

Re: Mikuni B34 parts for JD Spitfires
I suppose I should have mentioned, I have the Kawi engine....not that it probably matters much.
