Post by snowkat79 »

I need to split the case on this engine, but am unsure what is used to reseal the halves after new crank seals are installed. Any help is greatly appreciated!Image

I sell and use the Threebond version, no issues on my engines.

I have used both successfully, so it's buyer's choice.

But there's no gaskets, just this liquid gasket stuff right?

Correct.....no gaskets just sealant on the machined surfaces of the case halfs.

So no sealant on the seals themselves, just on the crankcase halves?

I don't coat the seals with sealant, but I do make sure where the seals sit in the case halves so very clean. I usually use a red scotchbright pad to shine things up and I make sure the grooves for the seal rib is clean and smooth.
