I had my sled out for it's first long ride after getting it back together. The thing ran great (thanks to everyone on this site). But near the end of the ride the suspension was bottoming out. so I adjusted the rear springs and it felt great for a mile or two then it was again bottoming out. Its see...

76 Cyclone help!!!!!
I have the same issue with my cyclone. I know that my needle and seat are new and adjusted per the manuals instructions. I had read in my manual that the fuel shut off valve should be turned off when trailering the sled due to the fact that it could cause a flooded engine. Now the location that I st...

I second the advise given by JDFanPa. silicone turns into something that looks like spam jelly. The stuff I have used is made by permatex, its called aviation gasket sealer. The stuff looks like a brown tar. comes with a top that has a brush attached. you should be able to find it a local napa auto ...

76' cyclone carb issue...Fixed!
A big "I told you so!" is in order. This was the sled that came with the wicked lean main jet and would run great only with the air box off. I was told by a few members that my problem was with the choke plunger. A few weeks ago I finally installed an new complete choke/enrichment system. ...

octane question
I found a link to vintagesnow.com and of course proceeded to the john deere section. here is the link: http://www.vintagesnow.com/John_Deere.html Now I am confused. The FAQ on JDsleds.com says to use the highest octane fuel in my 76' cyclone. has that recommendation been changed? It said on vintages...

76 Cyclone hard to start
I have not read through your previous posts, but what all was done to the carb? complete tear down and clean? Did you set the float arms parallel with the carb body? have you looked at your fuel pump, checked you fuel lines? I'm no expert, just some of the things I would look for. I have a 76 440 cy...

I built this piston wash light the other day. very simple design, but it was one of those things that you think to your self "why didn't I come up with this earlier". Its made out of a cheap LED bicycle light that you can get from places like walmart. I just un-soldered the LED and soldere...

comet 102-c clutch "can"
thanks harley, it completely slipped my mind about looking at the parts diagrams on jdparts. how prone were these clutches to flying apart? I have no problem with fabricating the guard. it will help pass the time till the snow is on the ground. I can see it now(with a four inch piece of clutch burie...

gentlemen......................Thank you so much for your replies. And to rich for producing the novel. she certainly will not be a trailer queen, much too ugly for that.
Now would anyone have a picture with the improved clutch guard in the photo?
Thanks again

The clutch that came off my cyclone has the cover can on it. I notice that he new 102-c's do not have it on them. should I leave it off or does this model need it? Are there any advantages or disadvantages?
Thanks

dimmer switch
Thanks for the reply JDT. How did you find them on mfg supply's web site? I looked under john deere cyclone and just under dimmer switches. Couldn't find them either way. Maybe they won't list them till they have some in stock.
