Re: 340 Trailfire help

vintagesnow.com has all the technical manuals for these sleds. I would clutch, gear, and jet it according to like a 1982 and it should run fine as long as airbox is in place. They have information for aligning motor and clutches in there as well. Very valuable site for the vintage sled world.

1982 Sportfire Crankshaft

Hi, I am working on my 82 Sportfire engine and found that the center bearings on the crank float. I can move both bearings and center seal side to side approximately 1/8". I have not had a sportfire motor apart but I do know this is not the case on just about every crank I have worked on. Can a...

Wanted: Trailfire 440 PTO cylinder

Hi, I’m looking for a good cylinder for my Trailfire 440. Specifically looking for left side (PTO). I’m located in central Wisconsin. Pickup is preferred over shipping. Send me a PM if you have something. Thank you!

Possible Repair for leaking oil injection check valves

I have been battling a 1980 Liquifire that fills the crankcase with injection oil as it sits. I have check valves that are not holding pressure consistently. I have tried cleaning and soaking these with no luck. I have been through most of my parts motors and found a few that are okay so I installed...

Worth of a Sprintfire?

I have a chance to buy a couple Sprintfire sleds and was wondering what a fair offer would be on these? Unfortunately I do not have a picture handy but from what I saw they appear rough but complete. I understand they didn't make a ton of these and was just wondering how far gone is too far gone? Th...

Re: Liquifire mufflers

That's what I thought. My old one has the "L" and the one shipped to me does not. Welp, back to the drawing Board I guess.

Liquifire mufflers

Did the mufflers change at all from 1980 to 1984 on the Liquifire line?? I purchased one that's marked "83 Liquifire" but it does not resemble my 1980 muffler. Can anyone shed some light on this??

Re: Wanted: 80-84 Liquifire exhaust pipe

Purchased pipe from smitfire. 69camaro, I know we never connected but there is always next time. I have a long project list that usually gets interrupted with farm work or customer repair work so I am in an out. This particular one has been in the corner of the garage for 2.5 years now. Thanks for t...

Wanted: 80-84 Liquifire exhaust pipe

I am in need of a exhaust pipe/muffler for my 80 Liquifire. Mine is plugged and the sled won't run. I am in central Wisconsin but willing to travel a reasonable distance if needed. Let me know what you have. Thanks!

Re: WTB Throttle Cable for 80 Liquifire ASAP

I can vouch for the bad things with new cables. With my carbs and oil pump synced I have about a quarter inch free play in lever with idle set properly. And every once in awhile it sticks mid throttle which is nice. The sled scares me. I may patch my old cable and try that.

Re: Piston Help

If I were you I would use a piston from the early cats. 72-75 cheetah 440. I believe the number is 09-688 but don't quote me on that. This should be a better match. Now in the liquifires every one ive had apart has the 09-689 style in it with the L shaped top ring. I did not have luck with that in m...

Looking for Liquifire rolling chassis

Looking for a Liquifire skid. Condition is not real important. I do not need motor or clutches or carbs etc. Would like it to have all steering components and rear skid or at least drive shaft as well as console and plastics. I am looking for the second generation liquifire. Thanks for any leads!

Re: Piston Help

I ran these in an 80 model and battled hard starting and finally busted the top l shaped ring. Since then I switched to GPI pistons which are an exact match to the stock casting. They have been great and are not terribly priced. I don't have numbers handy but if anyone has interest I can get them.
