440 Trail needle jet Q-0 (166)
I replaced all jets to JD specs on this carb, the Jet Needle 6F27-3 was hard to find so i matched it as close as possible with the 159 needle jet. Clean carb, rebuilt fuel pump. Still have to spray fuel in the carb to fire it up & spits out alota fuel from half throttle up. Also cant get the eng...

440 Trail needle jet Q-0 (166)
Dont know what to think of on the John Deere PIP specs, I tryed a 166 needle jet in my 79 trailfire 440 , & the jet was too short for the vm34. I had to order a 159?

Mikuni Air-Jet.... is this where it goes?
I could be wrong but ive seen mikunis with a brass plug factory pressed into the air jet passage to plug them off. If a carb didnt use the air jet on a certain sled ,Shouldnt it be plugged?

Mikuni Air-Jet.... is this where it goes?
Airjets - Mike Sayers Air going into air jets is NOT intake air... The tiny amount of air going into the air jets is completely insignificant compared to the air going through the carb throat even at idle. Very few people seem to understand the purpose of air jets in a Japanese carburetor. The air g...

Mikuni Air-Jet.... is this where it goes?
Have the same problem with my 79 440 trailfire. Doesnt have an air jet. Service manual dont list one for this sled. Yet the JD parts site list a 1.5 & 2.0 air jet for this model sled. I assume the 2.0 would be for the 440. Carb is clean ,changed all fuel jets to the Deere specs [pip] . Engine wo...

440 air jet
Scratch the intertec info , it cant be right. What im doing is installing my 34m mikuni carb back on the 79 440 trailfire. Id hate to have a burn down IF this sled used a air jet. Am aware not all carbs used an air jet, This trailfire at the time has no air jet.

440 air jet
Referring to the carb air jet.Intertec service manual states in 79 the following sleds were made, spitfire, trailfires 340-440, sportfire, liquifire 440. If this manual is right, Deere would of had the 34m mikuni in the sportfire. I know my 79 34m carb trailfire is not a power jet carb.

440 air jet
Anyone know if the 440 79 trailfire used an air jet? How about the 79 sportfire? I dont know what the difference was between the TA440A,[trailfire],or the TA440B [sportfire]. If the sportfire used a single carb, I would think both either used an air jet or not. Thanks Jon

air jet
Guess im not sure now, The john deere parts site listed a 1.0 & 2.0 for trailfire, What year or model it didnt state. The carbs threaded for one ,but that doesnt mean anything. Maybe the 79 440 trailfire didnt have the jet. My carb seems to have an air leak ,thought maybe that was the problem. A...

Anyone out there know where a person can get blank sheets of poly carbonate ,[or simular material] for making their own windshields. The trailfire shields are pretty spendy through Kirk, Shadetree ect. thanks

Mikuni Jet
Beware of trying to rejet your mikuni to pip specs. The [166 series] Q-O needle jet JD recomended is made for Vm 38mm carbs.I ordered a 166 ,tried to install it & being a shorter needle jet you have no threads to install your main jet to. I had to eat the 19.00$ jet {special order}, & order a...
