specs needed

As far as I understand, there can be only 2 things that really flood the engine...a bad needle & seat or bad, mis-adjusted floats.

81LQ...no spark

Maybe its just the 80 liq's that I've had, but there is one connection that always has given me trouble. It is a triangle shaped 3 prong connection that attaches to the block, right about where the coil is attached. Check it out. I ended up putting a little zip tie around it and problem gone. You ca...

440 engine speed

The main thing we might be forgetting...is that the younger you are the faster the speed becomes when you tell the story. At least I'd like to think all are literate and can read the speedo!!

Bob...do you read what you post? A mikuni master, but can't sync them. Fix entire sled with 3 tools. Are you for real? You want the most challenging?, then go get a dator. Fried, but all it needs are head gaskets and then good to go? I'll assume you were joking in that whole last post. I gotta give ...

Kind of off topic but...

Yes it can be frozen not seized. I had my Polaris SS295 colt sitting outside a few years back, and it got snow in and on it and everywhere. I never covered it up. Snow would freeze and melt during the warm then cold days, and the sled got ridden very little. Water got in the recoil, froze around the...

Bob, bob, bob, bob....those manuals are killing your bank account aren't they? You gotta have one if your going to do the vintage sled thing. You can post on here till your 80 yrs old and it won't get your sled running. Why don't you just find a member with a nice RUNNING Trailfire 440, and you give...

76 JD300- first ride of season, early upshift,

Pulled engine over with plugs out and I got the '2 holed fuel geyser'!! Didn't know the walbro carbs could flood since the engine is above the fuel tank and there is no bowl, like the mikuni's. Anyways, it flooding. Got a genuine Walbro kit coming from Image. Which parts cause the flooding? The oran...

76 JD300- first ride of season, early upshift,

Took it out for about a 15 mile trail run last night, on nice hard pack. Would a mid range stall, (between 25 to 40mph) be a carb or secondary issue? Engine has about 1000 miles on it since a crank up rebuild, including .020 over pistons, and sals 780 primary was rebuilt too. I also haven't redone t...

Anyone put ski skins on their JD?

Looking to put some skins on 2 of my JD's. Thought I'd check here to see if anyone bought and actually installed a set.

Bob...if that sled was really done, you'd be biting at the bit to take it out. Snow or no snow.

Some odd john deere

Any easy engine transplant. A sport or trailfire 440 would likely work.
