Mr. Deere

I have 2 sets of these PU ring sets that I've yet to try fitting on the original Kawasaki pistons. I bought a set from Image a number of years ago that did fit on original Kawi pistons, but I have no idea if these were PU, or original Kawi/Deere rings since they were only shipped in a non-descript b...

Interesting Chat at my Local JD Dealer

Reading these reminds me of the time I ordered a headgasket for an unstyled A from the local Deere dealer instead of the one I spent a lot of money at in the home area that's an hour away. When I called to ask if the part arrived yet, I stated my name and what I ordered, to which the parts guy says,...

Kec 340 CCW engine questions

As a side note, the KEC 340 has a drain plug on the bottom of the crankcase to drain excess fuel in severely flooded situations.

Bob- Believe it or not, I actually had two sets on my desk with the part number on it. Right place at the right time for once.

Elkland Show Results

On Friday there was a '72 500 beside the Spitfire at Canandaigua. There were more sleds on display in years past. There was a '76 or '77 Liquifire that sold at the auction on Thursday.

Vintage Outboards

Matt, have you checked out the classifieds at the Antique Outbord Motor Club's website?

http://www.aomci.org/webads.htm

Had to plug the other club I belong to since it's on topic.

leaky headgaskets

This topic was also discussed earlier this year:

Perhaps this should be another FAQ topic as it comes up somewhat regularly.

leaky headgaskets

The torque spec on the heads is 16 ft/lb, not 18. I am not sure what the extra 2ft/lb would do, but I have a set of Liquifire jugs that were overtorqued in which the studs were pulled up causing the area around the studs to be pulled up also, thus creating high spots barely detectable around the stu...

Liquifire Head Gaskets

The gasket on the right is what the "good" Winderosa is supposed to look like. Rodimus Prime verified this for me last season as that gasket was purchased during the period of question.

Liquifire Head Gaskets

In addition to what was stated above, make sure the deck of the jug is true. High spots around the edges of the studs are a sign of prior overtorquing. I have a set of jugs that this is an issue with. I don't know if this image adequately demonstrates that, but the heads are true, and can be slightl...
