That is odd, Tasky. I also live about 2 miles 'as the crow flies' from Greg and I have had nothing but dependable service some of the time.

Never mind, Tasky! Jack promised he would sell it to me when he was ready. I made a better deal with him behind your back at Big Sandy that day. $50.00 doesn't go very far these days, Tasky, especially when your talking a restored '84 Sprint. Get with the times! Jason

JRC, When I purchased the 295/S it had the steel skis with carbides and only the front tank. It has to be the same sled, though. The gentleman did say the 500 was very nice(as is the 295/S) and I remember the electric start part because he mentioned it a few times. Jason

serial number questions
If I remember correctly we picked that up on Hwy.23 (central MN). The gentleman told me(which is what he was told) that it was originally owned by the vice pres. of John Deere. He had also just sold a JD 500?(that I didn't see) with electric start that was supposedly owned by the same person at one ...

Craig, It did have a head temp. gauge(NOT exhaust temp.) mounted on the handlebars when I got it, but one side was not functioning(not to mention the wires were bare) so I took it off. It also has the front pivot(swingarm) shortened and the highest gear ratio available in the chaincase, 2.06:1(17 to...

Another Dator hits the block !!
I think the whole border thing scares off alot of potential(U.S.)buyers, not to mention fuel prices and the current economy.

Tasky and I were down at Dicks Marine and eyeballed that engine while picking up a couple of NOS 340RS/2 mills a few years back. (We knew Chuck was the owner).Definitely a cool oddball prototype. Jason
